Fluoride Gravity Filter
Gravity filters are the simplest way to reduce fluoride and other contaminants in your drinking water. There's no plumbing to connect and no power to run — you pour water into the top chamber and it filters down into the lower reservoir on its own. That makes them a practical option for kitchens without an undersink setup, rentals, off-grid homes, and anywhere you want filtered water without touching the plumbing. The slow gravity filtration maximises contact time between the media and the water — the longer that contact, the more contaminants the media can remove.
Armour Stainless Steel Gravity Filter System
The Armour is a 304 stainless steel countertop system built to sit out and get used every day. The housing, spigot, and stand are stainless steel, so it's BPA-free and almost entirely plastic-free — even the filter elements are about 95% plastic-free. It runs entirely on gravity: no electricity, no priming. It processes up to four litres per hour and ships with two Coldstream FTO Plus cartridges.
Coldstream FTO Plus Cartridge
The FTO Plus is the ceramic fluoride cartridge that powers the Armour. A ceramic outer shell handles bacteria, cysts, and sediment, while a granular activated-carbon core reduces fluoride, chlorine, lead and other heavy metals, PFAS, and microplastics. FTO Plus filters are independently tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53, and P231 standards. The cartridge is 8" tall, it also fits Berkey, British Berkefeld, ProOne, and most other gravity systems, and needs no priming before use.

Gravity filters reduce fluoride only when fitted with a fluoride-specific cartridge — standard carbon elements do not address it. Some other brands require a secondary fluoride cartridge that hangs in the filtered water tank. The all-in-one Coldstream FTO Plus cartridge pairs a ceramic outer shell with a granular activated-carbon core and is independently tested to reduce fluoride along with a broad range of other contaminants.

Unlike a separate fluoride add-on element, it reduces fluoride, chlorine, lead, PFAS, and microplastics in a single certified cartridge — and it needs no priming before use.

The Coldstream FTO Plus cartridge is a drop-in replacement for discontinued ProOne gravity elements. It fits the ProOne Big, ProOne Big+, and ProOne Traveler+ housings and is made in the same UK factory that produced the original ProOne G2.0 elements. It is not compatible with ProOne pitcher or Scout models.

No. The FTO Plus is ready to use out of the box — fit the cartridge, fill the upper chamber, and discard the first two tanks of water as a rinse. There is no soaking, pump-priming, or faucet-pressure step, which is a practical difference from many gravity elements that require priming before first use.

Replacement timing depends on how many cartridges run at once. A single cartridge should be replaced every 6 months, two cartridges every 12 months, and four cartridges every 24 months. Most households run two cartridges, so yearly replacement is typical.

Noticeably slower flow between chambers is the most visible sign the ceramic shell is loading up with sediment. Follow the replacement schedule regardless — 6 months per single cartridge, 12 months for two — since the carbon core's fluoride reduction capacity depletes on its own timeline, independent of flow rate.
